Krzysztof Sarad (picture: left) and Damian Cup (picture: right), the two members of the Polish Team, are the European Insulation Champions 2016. The FESI Insulation Apprentice Championship, which is organized every two years by the European Federation of Associations of Insulation Contractors (FESI), was for the first time held during and included in the IEX Europe exhibition in Cologne, the world’s largest trade fair for industrial insulation which took place on 11-12 May.
In the two competition days, the two 23 years-old insulators from the Polish Industrial Insulation Contractors Association (PSWIP) showed the best performance and delivered the best results competing against 9 teamsfrom all over Europe.
The second team with Luka Goisilovic and Fauzi Omeirate comes from the German association Hauptverband der Deutschen Bauindustrie e.V. and is followed by the team of the Danish insulation association (Det faglige udvalg for isoleringsfaget) with the competitors Patrick Guldberg Rasmussen and Peter Kjær Nielsen.
The other seven teams participating were from Austria, France, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom (in alphabetical order). The jury, composed of the well experienced judges Kurt Hirschi from Switzerland, Svend Pers from Denmark, Daniel Briard from France and Roman Mucha from Poland, was impressed by the quality of the insulation work performed by all participating teams.
At the award ceremony taking place in the wonderful scenery of the industrial loft location “The Harbour Club” the judges explained that all participants can be very proud of what they achieved by solving
the demanding tasks with all different kind of materials, shapes and claddings. In fact the challenging dummies are usually used in the German education for “Isoliermeister” (Master of Insulation) and the apprentices showed in the competition that with some experience they are ready to further continue their career in this direction.
The FESI Championship 2016 had the largest number of visitors ever and such was its success that the FESI members decided to organise the next European competition again in the heart of the IEX Europe Exhibition in Cologne on 16-17 May 2018. Don’t miss it and see you in Cologne in 2018.
